Yazmin Lacey

Based in London after growing up in Nottingham, Yazmin Lacey has since the mid-2010s developed a writing style that sits between soul, jazz, R&B and hushed grooves, with a deep and flexible voice that gives her songs a color that is immediately identifiable. She emerged with the Black Moon EP in 2017, followed by When The Sun Dips 90 Degrees in 2018 and Morning Matters in 2020, three records that lay the foundations of an introspective, urban and warm universe, nourished as much by the soul tradition as by a contemporary approach to songwriting. Yazmin Lacey is part of the British scene where neo-soul, jazz and spoken word intersect, favouring minimalist arrangements, slow or syncopated rhythms and a direct way of addressing relationships, everyday life and emotional states. Her debut album, Voice Notes, appeared in 2023 and extends this aesthetic with a larger sound, while not losing the proximity that characterizes her songs. Throughout her trajectory, Yazmin Lacey has moved between concerts, festivals and collaborations tied to the soul and jazz scenes of the United Kingdom, affirming a format that rests as much on vocal presence as on the detail of textures and the sense of restraint.
