Nectar Woode
Raised in Milton Keynes in a Ghanaian-British family, Nectar Woode shapes a musical songwriting voice in which her cultural heritage and the everyday experience of a young mixed-race woman are central. Between neo-soul, folk, jazz and gospel, she favors intimate songs carried by a nuanced voice and clear melodies, linking her both to the British soul scene and to the traditions of acoustic songwriting. Her early tracks found a place in the UK's independent soul and jazz networks and led her to a variety of stages, from concert venues to festivals and cultural spaces, where the music is often combined with moments of exchange with the audience. Alongside her own projects, Nectar Woode hosts a monthly show for the Women in Jazz collective on Soho Radio, giving visibility to underrepresented artists and creators. She also appears in contexts of cultural mediation, notably in a collaboration with Spotify Fresh Finds where she interviewed artists at Glastonbury.
