Thy Catafalque + Bong-Ra + Toward The Throne

On March 30, 2026 at Le Ferrailleur in Nantes, Thy Catafalque, led by Hungarian composer Tamás Kátai, unfolds its singular alloy of extreme and avant-garde metal. Born in the studio, the project has established itself as an experimental playground where massive riffs, electronic textures and acoustic instruments intersect. Its latest album, XII: A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek, continues the transformation begun after Alföld, nourished by Hungarian roots, classical arrangements and a wide array of guest contributors. The themes probe memory and the passage of time. For the first time, Kátai enlisted an external producer, Gábor Vári, to broaden the sonic depth without deviating from the project’s DNA. On stage, the material shifts in waves, between density and rupture.

Bong-Ra, the stage name of Dutch producer Jason Köhnen, has championed the breakcore vein since the late 1990s. His approach combines jungle, gabber, metal and experimental elements, with notable releases on Ad Noiseam and Planet Mu. Over the years he has expanded his palette toward darker, more ritualistic hues, mixing doom, occult jazz and extreme music. His side projects The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble and The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation illustrate this versatility, oscillating between nervous pulses and enveloping atmospheres.

Toward The Throne, a French outfit formed in 2012, carves a path of blackened atmospheric death metal where melancholy and tension coexist. Their debut album Vowed to Decline (2021) established them in the underground and brought them to share stages with Rotting Christ, The Great Old Ones and Une Misère. With Midnight, released on February 27, 2026, the band pursues a songwriting approach that balances dark reveries with frontal impacts, alternating walls of guitars and instrumental interludes. In Nantes, they present this new chapter in a set conceived as a trajectory, from whisper to crash.
