Arkona
Formed in 1993 in Syców, in the southwest of Poland, Arkona has evolved since its beginnings in an area where black metal and pagan metal intersect, with a harsh, fast and dark sound, nourished by cold atmospheres and themes linked to pagan imagery. The band has been built around guitarist and singer Khorzon, who has remained a central member despite many lineup changes, alongside Drac, also on vocals and bass. In its discographic journey, Arkona first left demos in the mid-1990s before releasing Imperium in 1996, then Zeta Reticuli: A Tale About Hatred and Total Enslavement in 1999, Nokturnal Arkonian Hordes in 2002 and Konstelacja Lodu in 2003. After a period marked by several splits and compilations, Arkona returned to the album format with Chaos.Ice.Fire in 2013, then Lunaris in 2016, Age of Capricorn in 2019 and Stella Pandora in 2024. Over the years, Arkona has circulated on European underground stages while maintaining a rugged aesthetic, centered on melodic black metal but cutting, where the epic drives of pagan metal remain contained in a dense and aggressive writing.
