MØL
Formed in Aarhus in 2013, MØL develops a blackgaze that blends the intensity of black metal with shoegaze and post-rock textures and, at times, a tension reminiscent of hardcore. The band coalesced around musicians who had worked in the Danish shoegaze and dream pop scenes, and singer Kim Song Sternkopf joined MØL in 2016 after first photographing one of their shows. After a self-titled demo in 2014 and the EP II in 2015, MØL quickly broadened its audience with the album Jord in 2018, followed by Diorama in 2021 and Dreamcrush in 2026. MØL’s sound is built on dense, airy guitars, nervous rhythms and a raw vocal delivery that remains intelligible within formats often tighter than those of many peers in the genre. On stage, MØL moves between metal festivals and European tours, with appearances at Copenhell and dates alongside Ghost Bath and Rivers of Nihil. MØL thus belongs to a Nordic scene where the boundaries between extreme metal and melodic atmospheres are increasingly porous.
