Harakiri for the Sky
Harakiri for the Sky is an Austrian post-black metal band founded in 2011 in Salzburg and Vienna by vocalist JJ (Michael V. Wahntraum) and multi-instrumentalist Matthias Sollak, a former member of Bifröst. Together they forged a distinctive sound that blends the fury of black metal with melodic, introspective passages. Their music—both violent and poetic—explores loss, melancholy, and resilience, creating an emotional universe of rare intensity. Signed to the German label AOP Records, the band has released six albums: Harakiri for the Sky, Aokigahara, III: Trauma, Arson, Möre and Scorched Earth. Each record deepens an aesthetic that balances rage and beauty, between epic riffs, massive rhythms and contemplative atmospheres. On stage JJ and Sollak are joined by Thomas Dornig on bass, Mischa Bruemmer on drums and Marrok on guitar, delivering intense, cathartic performances. Harakiri for the Sky has established itself as a leading act in modern metal, touring with Der Weg einer Freiheit and The Great Old Ones and appearing on major stages such as Summer Breeze Open Air. Nominated for the Amadeus Austrian Music Awards, the duo remains true to its credo: to transform pain into power and darkness into light.
