Magdalena Bay

Formed in Miami and now based in Los Angeles, the duo Magdalena Bay brings together singer and songwriter Mica Tenenbaum and producer and multi‑instrumentalist Matthew Lewin around an electronic pop that blends synthpop, indie pop, and overt nods to 1980s music. After an initial stint together in a progressive rock band in high school, the two musicians launched Magdalena Bay in the mid‑2010s, posting homemade tracks and videos online that gradually established their world, somewhere between a boldly graphic internet aesthetic and direct pop songwriting. The project’s first formal releases came as EPs: mini mix vol. 1 in 2019, then A Little Rhythm and a Wicked Feeling in 2020, which cemented a taste for short forms, seamless transitions, and dense yet melodic production. Magdalena Bay followed in 2021 with the EP mini mix vol. 2 and, above all, the album Mercurial World, conceived as a continuous cycle where the songs flow without interruption, playing on contrasts between synthetic ballads and more dance‑oriented cuts. In 2022, the duo revisited this repertoire with the remix album Mercurial World Deluxe, which stretches and reconfigures the original compositions. On stage, Magdalena Bay translates this work into a highly visual electronic pop live show, fueled by their self‑produced videos and the digital universe that runs through their entire discography.
