Grandmas House
Formed in Bristol, Grandmas House brings together Yasmin Berndt, Poppy Dodgson, Zoë Zinsmeister and Polly around a taut rock sound that crosses post‑punk, grunge and noise rock. The band took shape when Yasmin, Poppy and Zoë met at university, driven by a desire to write music that is direct, abrasive and melodic, powered more by collective energy than by virtuosity. Grandmas House first made a mark on the UK local scene with a handful of tracks and live shows that blend tight riffs, massive bass, forward drums and often shared vocals, anchored by Yasmin’s deep, rough voice. Their aesthetic draws on punk and indie rock while maintaining a taste for memorable choruses, shifts in tension and a darkness laced with irony. Across their releases Grandmas House has honed a more focused sound, between post‑punk urgency and grunge heaviness. The EP Anything For You, released in 2025, continues that trajectory with five songs revolving around personal themes such as grief, break‑up and illness, written in a concise, jagged style that remains central to the band’s identity.
