TV Priest
Formed in London in 2019, TV Priest moves between post-punk, punk rock and indie rock, with tense writing, angular guitars and a spoken-sung vocal delivery that gives its songs a tone that is both dry and narrative. The band drew attention very early, having played only a limited number of gigs, in a context quickly constrained by the pandemic, before signing with Sub Pop. TV Priest released their debut album, Uppers, in 2021, where rhythmic urgency, social tension and an abrasive melodic approach intersect, followed by My Other People in 2022, a record that retains this post-punk base while widening the dynamics, textures and work on contrasts. Around Charlie Drinkwater on vocals and Alex Sprogis on guitar, TV Priest sits within a contemporary British rock scene that revisits forms inherited from the late 1970s and early 2000s without reproducing them identically. TV Priest thus develops a direct, tense and structured sound, carried by tracks where rhythmic detail matters as much as the density of the lyrics.
