SKORTS

Born on the New York scene, SKORTS brings together Alli Walls, Char Smith, Emma Welch and Max Berdik in a quartet formed in 2021, after Alli Walls moved to New York from Denver and a series of encounters in guitar shops, bars and local venues. SKORTS develops a direct, melodic rock at the crossroads of indie rock, power pop and taut punk, with tight guitars, expansive choruses and a playing energy that remains closely tied to live performance. Quickly present on Brooklyn and Manhattan DIY stages, SKORTS caught attention within the New York club circuit, won the Winter Madness organized by Our Wicked Lady and recorded a session for WFUV. The band also worked with producer Teddy O’Mara to capture their first songs in several Brooklyn rehearsal rooms, favoring live takes that extend their stage dynamic. Behind SKORTS’s frontal impact, some tracks also reveal a more restrained side, without departing from concise songwriting and a compact rock format.
