Sarah Kinsley

Situated between indie pop and introspective songwriting, New York–based American singer, songwriter, and producer Sarah Kinsley pursues a project defined by a strong DIY ethos and a taste for lush arrangements. Trained from a young age in piano and violin, she crafts songs where voice, strings, keyboards, and electronic textures blend in an art-pop-leaning aesthetic, with shape-shifting structures and gradual builds. After several tracks released online, the 2021 EP The King brought her to the attention of the US and UK indie scenes, followed in 2022 by Cypress, which sharpens the contrasts between intimate ballads and more uptempo cuts. In 2023, the EP Ascension extends this exploration of alternative pop with melodic choruses and meticulous production, conceived entirely by Kinsley in the studio as well as on stage, where she adapts her compositions for a stripped-down setup. Her first full-length album, Escaper, released in 2024, gathers these facets within a more narrative framework, confirming a trajectory toward pop that is both melodic and experimental, rooted in the New York scene while resonating widely internationally.
