Searows
Under the name Searows, American singer‑songwriter Alec Duckart develops an intimate folk songwriting rooted in the North American indie scene. The project emerged in the early 2020s with sparely arranged songs centered on acoustic guitar, a soft voice often doubled in harmonies, and introspective lyrics that address family ties, friendship and solitude. The debut album, Guard Dog (2022), established this aesthetic between contemporary folk, restrained slowcore and hushed indie rock influences, often featuring slow tempos and a marked attention to dynamic nuances. In 2023 Searows followed with the EP End of the World, which extends this sonic framework by occasionally adding broader arrangements while preserving a close, room‑like production and strong vocal intimacy. On stage, Searows most often appears in a reduced setup—solo or accompanied by a few musicians—retaining the same economy of means and focus on voice and lyrics as in the studio recordings. This consistency between songwriting, recording and performance helps place Searows within a generation of digital folk projects shaped on the margins of traditional circuits.
