Alice Phoebe Lou

Originally from Kommetjie, near Cape Town in South Africa, Alice Phoebe Lou is part of an indie scene that blends folk, alternative pop and touches of jazz. After early trips to Europe in the early 2010s she settled in Berlin and attracted attention in public spaces through regular street performances, before developing a network of independent venues and small tours. Her writing relies on a clear, often foregrounded voice, stripped‑back guitars, measured use of keyboards and a discreet rhythmic foundation, with soul and blues influences running through her melodies. Outside mainstream industry circuits she opted for self‑production and gradually built a catalogue of EPs and albums, including her first full‑length “Orbit” in 2016, followed notably by “Paper Castles” in 2019, then “Glow” and “Child’s Play” in 2021, and “Shelter” in 2023. Based long‑term in Berlin, she alternates solo work with playing in a tight ensemble, between intimate shows, festivals and club stages in Europe and North America, while maintaining regular contact with her audience through digital releases and live recordings.
