Wasia Project
Originating in England around the sibling duo of singer-guitarist Olivia Hardy and pianist-vocalist William Gao, Wasia Project has been developing a chamber pop sound since 2019 in which indie pop, jazz-pop, subtle electronic textures and a classical background intersect without hierarchy. The project first drew attention with the single “Why Don’t U Love Me” in 2019, followed by the EP How Can I Pretend? in 2022, which established a style of songwriting that is intimate, melodic and richly arranged. In 2023 Wasia Project released “Petals on the Moon”, “My Lover Is Sleeping” and “Remember When”, while “Ur So Pretty” appeared on the soundtrack of the second season of Heartstopper. Their second EP, Isotope, was released in 2024 and extended this aesthetic—piano, supple vocals, brass and relaxed rhythms. On stage, Wasia Project functions as an expanded duo, accompanied by additional musicians on drums, bass and brass, which accentuates the organic quality of songs written between alternative pop, light jazz and restrained emotion.
