Sons of Arrakis

Formed in Montreal in 2019, Sons of Arrakis develops heavy rock tinted by stoner, doom, and psychedelia, with imagery directly nourished by Frank Herbert’s Dune universe. The band, which also speaks of 'rock mélange' and cinematic science-fiction rock, builds massive, progressive tracks where slow riffs, dynamic shifts and a desert atmosphere take a central place. Sons of Arrakis released its debut album, Volume I, in 2022, after beginning to attract attention on the Canadian heavy scene. The outfit subsequently keeps up a string of shows and tours, notably in Ontario and Quebec in 2023, in a live style coherent with its music, straddling doom power, psychedelic bursts and science-fiction narration. The identity of Sons of Arrakis rests as much on this conceptual aesthetic as on a clear grounding in the current stoner-doom scene, with an approach that blends direct rock formats with more immersive developments.
