Rebeka Warrior

Stage name of Julia Lanoë, Rebeka Warrior has developed since the early 2000s a French career linked first to the Nantes scene and then to the club and independent circuits of Paris and Europe. Rebeka Warrior appears with Mansfield.TYA, a duo formed with Carla Pallone, where very spare French-language songwriting mixes with a dark pop atmosphere of piano, violin and minimal electronics. At the same time she formed Sexy Sushi with Mitch Silver, a more upfront project that shifted her work toward electro-punk, electroclash and an abrasive, rhythmic, direct aesthetic. This tension between vulnerability, irony, social violence and dance energy remains at the heart of Rebeka Warrior’s language, both in her songs and in her stage presence. In 2019 she launched KOMPROMAT with Vitalic, a duo oriented toward EBM, cold wave and techno; their first album Traum und Existenz was released that same year. Through these projects Rebeka Warrior moves between pop formats, performance, DJ sets and club music, with a style based on sharp vocal lines, short texts and a constant search for contrasts between darkness, physical tension and melody.
