Vive la fête

Born in Ghent in 1997, Vive la Fête revolves around the duo formed by Danny Mommens and Els Pynoo, with an identity positioned between synthpop, electroclash, new wave, dance-punk and electronic rock. The band first emerged with the EP Je ne veux pas in 1998, then established its universe with Attaque Surprise in 2000 and République Populaire in 2001, before reaching a wider audience with Nuit blanche in 2003. Sung in French, Vive la Fête’s repertoire relies on dry synthetic lines, danceable rhythms, taut guitars, and an aesthetic that clearly dialogues with the 1980s without veering into pastiche. Over the years, Vive la Fête developed a regular live presence in Europe and beyond, traversing both rock circuits and contexts related to fashion and nightlife cultures. The discography was later enriched with Grand Prix in 2005, Jour de chance in 2007, Produit de Belgique in 2012, 2013, and Destination amour in 2018. In 2021, the project returns with Viva Alternativa, then continues its activity with the single Sauvage in 2024 and the EP Les Sauvages in 2025, extending a direct formula where pop efficiency meets a cold and minimalist tension.
