Ascendant Vierge
At the crossroads of trance, pop and fast-paced electronic music, Ascendant Vierge brings together Brussels singer Mathilde Fernandez and French producer Paul Seul, from the Parisian collective Casual Gabberz. Formed in Paris in the late 2010s, the Franco‑Belgian duo gradually established themselves on club and festival stages across Europe, with a voice+machines setup designed as much for dancing as for a more theatrical register. The first tracks released in 2019, including 'Influenceur' and 'Petit soldat', set out an aesthetic that combines very fast trance rhythms, direct pop melodies and French singing with lyrical inflections, at times bordering on opera. Ascendant Vierge consolidated that identity with the EP Vierge in 2020, then expanded the formula toward more structured, narrative compositions on the album Une nouvelle chance (2023), where the duo explores themes of relationships, intimate transformation and media imagery. On stage, Ascendant Vierge develops a distinctive visual universe—between gothic references, rave codes and romantic inspirations—and moves through networks of alternative electronic music, independent venue programming and major mainstream festivals.
