Léonie Pernet

Born in 1989 in Paris, Léonie Pernet develops work at the crossroads of electronic music, pop and an instrumental writing close to contemporary music. Initially active as a DJ and drummer in the early 2010s, notably touring alongside producer Yuksek, she refined an aesthetic in which electronic rhythms, atmospheric pads, strings, organ and voice interact. Embedded in the French independent scene, she emerged as a solo artist with the EP Two of Us in 2014, before releasing her first album Crave on InFiné in 2018 — marked by alternating songs in English and French, dark moods and more melodic passages. In 2021 the album Le Cirque de consolation extended this approach by more explicitly incorporating motifs borrowed from North African musics and vocal polyphonies, combining electronic pulses, orchestral arrangements and ambient textures. Her concerts, in clubs and at festivals in France and abroad, revolve around a multi-instrumentalist performance in which drums, keyboards and voice structure sets that oscillate between introspective dance music and slow ballads. Alongside her records, Léonie Pernet also composes for film and visual media, which feeds the cinematic and narrative quality of her pieces.
