Thrice
Formed in Irvine, California, in the late 1990s, Thrice brings together Dustin Kensrue, Teppei Teranishi, Eddie Breckenridge and Riley Breckenridge around a post-hardcore foundation rooted in the West Coast punk scene. Thrice’s early albums, including “Identity Crisis” (2000) and “The Illusion of Safety” (2002), follow a fast, melodic vein, before “The Artist in the Ambulance” (2003) and “Vheissu” (2005) marked a darker, more experimental turn that incorporated alternative rock, metal influences and more progressive atmospheres. With the conceptual project “The Alchemy Index” (2007–2008), Thrice explored a variety of registers — from electric tension to acoustic and ambient soundscapes — anchoring the band in a more open songwriting approach. Subsequent records, such as “Beggars” (2009), “Major/Minor” (2011), “To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere” (2016), “Palms” (2018) and “Horizons/East” (2021), continued this evolution toward an alternative rock with more nuanced structures, dense rhythms, often introspective vocal sections and textured guitars. Active on North American and European stages, Thrice retains the identity of a tight-knit quartet, alternating studio recordings, headlining tours and participation in the post-hardcore and independent rock circuits.
