Silverstein
Formed in 2000 in Burlington, Ontario, Silverstein is part of the North American post-hardcore wave, blending emo, screamo, melodic hardcore and at times passages closer to indie rock. Fronted by Shane Told’s voice, which alternates between clean singing and screams, the Canadian band first established itself with When Broken Is Easily Fixed (2003), before refining a more direct, melodic songwriting approach on Discovering the Waterfront (2005) and Arrivals & Departures (2007). With A Shipwreck in the Sand (2009), Silverstein adopted a more narrative format while maintaining the tension between accessible choruses, jittery guitars and hardcore-derived rhythms. After Rescue (2011) and the brief format of Short Songs (2012), the arrival of Paul Marc Rousseau on guitar marked a new phase, audible on This Is How the Wind Shifts (2013), I Am Alive in Everything I Touch (2015) and Dead Reflection (2017). Silverstein has consistently toured punk and post-hardcore stages across North America, Europe, Japan and Australia, regularly appearing on tours and festivals such as the Warped Tour. More recently they continued this trajectory with A Beautiful Place to Drown (2020) and Misery Made Me (2022), further broadening their range between hardcore intensity, emo melodies and contemporary rock production.
