Coheed and Cambria

Formed in Nyack, New York, Coheed and Cambria operate at the intersection of progressive rock, alternative metal and post‑hardcore, with a marked taste for layered song structures, tempo changes and high vocal melodies. The band began in 1995 under the name Shabütie and adopted the Coheed and Cambria moniker in the early 2000s, centering on singer‑guitarist Claudio Sanchez and guitarist Travis Stever, later joined by drummer Josh Eppard and bassist Zach Cooper. Their discography opens with The Second Stage Turbine Blade (2002) and In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 (2003), expands with the Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV era and No World for Tomorrow (2007), and continues with Year of the Black Rainbow (2010) and the diptych The Afterman (Ascension 2012, Descension 2013). Many of these albums are concept records tied to the science‑fiction universe The Amory Wars, written by Claudio Sanchez and adapted into comic books. With The Color Before the Sun (2015) and the Vaxis cycles — Act I: The Unheavenly Creatures (2018) and Vaxis II: A Window of the Waking Mind (2022) — Coheed and Cambria have extended their blend of narrative rock, emo influences and metal textures, regularly presenting it on tours across North America and Europe.
