The Acacia Strain
Formed in 2001 in Chicopee, Massachusetts, and later based in Albany, New York, The Acacia Strain sits at the intersection of metalcore and deathcore, incorporating elements of doom, sludge and death metal. Long structured around vocalist Vincent Bennett, the band has developed a dense sound, often very slow at times, built on massive guitars, crushing rhythms and a hardcore approach in both impact and concision. After the debut ...And Life Is Very Long in 2002, The Acacia Strain gradually established itself on the American hardcore and metal circuits with 3750 (2004), The Dead Walk (2006), Continent (2008) and Wormwood (2010). Death Is the Only Mortal (2012) also marked a change of era, with guitarist Daniel Laskiewicz departing shortly after its release. The subsequent period shows continued evolution without a clear rupture, from Coma Witch (2014) to Gravebloom (2017), then It Comes in Waves (2019) and Slow Decay (2020). In 2023 The Acacia Strain released the diptych Step Into the Light and Failure Will Follow, two complementary records that emphasize both their frontal brutality and their slower, weightier side.
