Signs of the Swarm

Formed in the mid-2010s in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Signs of the Swarm belongs to the most extreme edge of the American deathcore scene, with a sound that blends brutal death, very heavy downtempo passages and more technical elements. The band, built around drummer and songwriter Bobby Crow, has undergone several lineup changes, notably on vocals; the arrival of David Simonich in 2018 marked a new phase in Signs of the Swarm’s vocal identity. Their early recordings resulted in the album Senseless Order in 2016, quickly followed by The Disfigurement of Existence in 2017, which established the band on international deathcore circuits. With Vital Deprivation in 2019 and Absolvere in 2021, Signs of the Swarm refined a style characterized by very deep guttural vocals, staccato riffs, pronounced tempo shifts and a dark atmosphere often centered on themes of suffering and dehumanization. Amongst the Low & Empty, released in 2023, continues this evolution by adding more dynamics and rhythmic relief, while Signs of the Swarm has been extensively touring North America and Europe alongside other contemporary extreme acts.
