Slander

Under the alias Slander are the American producers Derek Andersen and Scott Land, who emerged from the Los Angeles electronic scene and have been active since the early 2010s. Initially noticed for remixes and bootlegs that mixed trap with prominent melodies, Slander quickly moved toward a form of bass music blending dubstep, future bass and pop influences, often driven by vocals close to mainstream electronic pop. The duo built their career through releases on specialized labels and touring festival and club circuits in North America, Europe and Asia, while expanding collaborations—most notably with producer NGHTMRE, with whom they later launched the imprint Gud Vibrations. Slander’s music alternates between vocal passages focused on emotional themes and instrumental sections with massive lows, placing the project at the crossroads of melodic dubstep and trap EDM. In 2022 the duo released the album “Thrive,” which extends Slander’s aesthetic toward formats closer to electronic pop while retaining a bass-music foundation.
