Sasha Alex Sloan
Born in Boston and raised in the South Boston neighborhood, Sasha Alex Sloan, whose real name is Alexandra Yatchenko, develops an intimate pop sound with a dominant folk influence and light electronic textures, centered on writing and understated arrangements. Initially active as a songwriter for other artists in Los Angeles from the mid-2010s, Sasha Alex Sloan contributed to tracks by Camila Cabello, Charli XCX, Katy Perry, Anne-Marie or Tinashe, while also appearing on songs by producers and pop projects such as Kygo, Odesza, Martin Garrix, or Alan Walker. At the same time, Sasha Alex Sloan launched her own repertoire with the EPs Sad Girl (2018), Loser (2018) and Self Portrait (2019), where a confession-pop style with restrained tempos, nourished by piano, discreet textures and direct melodies, asserts itself. Her songs frequently address anxiety, isolation, relationships and coming of age. This approach continues on the albums Only Child (2020), I Blame the World (2022) and Me Again (2024), released after her move to independence. Between writing for others, occasional collaborations and touring under her own name, Sasha Alex Sloan is part of a contemporary pop scene that favors pared-down formats and personal storytelling.
