Distant
Between Rotterdam and Bratislava, Distant began to take shape in 2014 around a very heavy deathcore rooted in massive tempos, low‑tuned guitars, insistent breakdowns and an abrasive vocal delivery. The band, now made up of Nouri Yetgin, Elmer Maurits, Alan Grnja and René Gerbrandij, first developed through the EPs Slither (2015) and Tsukuyomi (2017) before expanding their format with Tyrannotophia in 2019, their first album released via Unique Leader Records. Distant continued along that path with Aeons Of Oblivion (2021) and Heritage (2023), the latter arriving after the band signed with Century Media. Their music remains anchored in deathcore but also absorbs elements of modern death metal and adopts a very narrative, dark and compact approach to atmosphere, avoiding flashy virtuosity. In 2024 Distant revisited their Tsukuyomi EP with Tsukuyomi: The Origin, a record featuring guests such as Alex Erian, Matt Heafy, David Simonich and Travis Worland. Through releases and extreme metal tours, Distant has established itself on an international scene associated with the densest aesthetics of the genre.
