Saez

With his biting lyrics and world‑weary songs, Saez is the enfant terrible of French music. Saez began making music at an early age and entered the conservatory at nine, where he studied piano and music theory. He soon took a different, far less classical path, presenting himself as a tormented poet at odds with the world. Saez is a dark musician with a Baudelairean melody, drawing his lyrics from the depths of darkness. The adventure started in 1996 when Saez met William Sheller, and in 1999 he released his first album with the evocative title «Jours Etranges». That debut propelled Saez into the spotlight, crowning him the rock revelation of the 2000s with the hit «Jeune et con». Damien Saez went on to release albums and tour extensively, including a 2005 tour billed as Damien Saez : Piano & Voix. He made a major return in 2010 with the album «J’accuse», a title that nods to Émile Zola’s famous letter during the Dreyfus affair. The record refreshed the singer’s style, and barely two years later he issued a triple album titled «Messina», followed by the release of «Miami» in 2013.
