Robag Wruhme
Born in 1974 in Rudolstadt, in the former GDR, and settled in Jena after growing up in Apolda, Gabor Schablitzki began developing a DJ practice in the early 1990s before expanding his work into electronic production. After the Beefcake project, carried out from 1996 with Volker Kahl in an experimental electronica register, he formed the duo Wighnomy Brothers with Sören Bodner, active on the German club scene and co-founder of the label Freude am Tanzen in 1998. Under the name Robag Wruhme, adopted for his solo releases from 2002, he developed a sound situated between microhouse, minimal house, pliant techno and danceable ambient, with a marked taste for off-kilter rhythms, fragmented melodies and oblique textures. Robag Wruhme released the album Wuzzelbud 'KK' in 2004, then Thora Vukk in 2011 on Pampa Records and Venq Tolep in 2019, while also issuing EPs and maxis for Musik Krause, Vakant, Kompakt and Hart & Tief. His trajectory continued with Tulpa Ovi, his own label launched in 2021, and with T.O.R. LP 001 in 2023, in a continuity that intersects DJ culture, club formats and the search for more contemplative forms.
