Odd Mob

Based in Brisbane, Australia, the Odd Mob project emerged in the early 2010s as a duo formed by producers Harry Hope and Robbie Jacobs, before refocusing around Harry Hope alone mid‑decade. Rooted in house and tech‑house, Odd Mob developed a club‑oriented sound built on pronounced basslines, vocal chopping and rhythmic work that borrows from classic house as well as more recent club music trends. The 2014 single “Is It A Banger?” drew attention to Odd Mob within the Australian electronic scene and paved the way for a series of dancefloor‑focused tracks released on various specialist labels. Over the years Harry Hope steered Odd Mob toward more minimalist, percussive productions, incorporating elements from hip‑hop and bass music while keeping structures geared toward effective mixing. Present in clubs and festivals in Australia and later internationally, Odd Mob belongs to a generation of producers who move between mainstream house and more experimental variations, multiplying collaborations and remixes within the electronic scene.
