Nek

Under the name Nek, Filippo Neviani, born in 1972 in Sassuolo in Emilia-Romagna, has developed since the early 1990s a repertoire that sits between Italian pop rock, melodic popular music and acoustic ballads. After beginnings in bands around Modena, he launched his solo career with the album Nek in 1992, followed by In te in 1993. His career is marked by several appearances at the Festival di Sanremo, with a turning point in 1997 when "Laura non c’è" brought wider visibility to his songwriting, including beyond Italy thanks to the Spanish version "Laura no está." Nek thus positions himself both within the Italian pop scene and the Spanish-speaking market, regularly issuing Spanish versions of his songs and albums. Across records such as Lei, gli amici e tutto il resto (1996), In due (1998), La vita è (2000), Una parte di me (2005), Filippo Neviani (2013) and Prima di parlare (2015), Nek has refined a formula based on direct melodies, spare arrangements, a central vocal presence and a balance between restrained rock energy and a sentimental register.
