Aleks Syntek
Born in Mérida, Yucatán, and raised early in Mexico City's television and music environment, Aleks Syntek emerged in the late 1980s with the group project Aleks Syntek y La Gente Normal, positioning him in Spanish-language pop informed by synth-pop, light rock and radio-friendly melodies. In the 1990s he developed a songwriting approach centered on keyboards, crisp choruses and a balance between ballads, pop grooves and electronic arrangements, distinct from both raw rock and traditional mainstream variety. His transition to a solo career around the 2000s extended this aesthetic with smoother production and a continued focus on the song format. Syntek also works for visual media: the song “Sexo, pudor y lágrimas,” written for Antonio Serrano’s 1999 film, remains a key milestone in his trajectory. Among his most recognizable collaborations is “Duele el amor” with Ana Torroja. As a singer, songwriter and producer, Aleks Syntek has maintained a career that moves between the Latin pop stage, film soundtracks and studio projects.
