Juanes
Colombian guitarist and singer‑songwriter Juanes emerged in the late 1990s with the rock band Ekhymosis, formed in Medellín, before launching a solo career rooted in Latin rock and pop rock. After settling in the United States, he honed a style that blends rock guitars, pop melodies and influences from traditional Colombian music, with Spanish-language lyrics that mix intimate themes, social observation and everyday references. His solo discography begins with Fíjate bien (2000), followed by Un día normal (2002) and Mi sangre (2004), which established him on stages across Latin America and Europe; it continues with La vida… es un ratico (2007), Loco de amor (2014), Mis planes son amarte (2017), Más futuro que pasado (2019), the covers project Origen (2021) and Vida cotidiana (2023). The live album Juanes MTV Unplugged (2012) highlights a more acoustic facet of his repertoire. Through studio and stage collaborations—particularly with Latin American pop and rock artists—Juanes performs at major international festivals, in concert halls and at media events, with his Spanish-language repertoire remaining central.
