Objekt
Under the name Objekt, TJ Hertz has been developing from Berlin a trajectory that links techno, electro, broken rhythms and the heritage of UK bass. A British producer and DJ, Objekt emerged in the early 2010s with a series of maxis, notably on Hessle Audio, where his tracks favor rhythmic displacement, shifting basslines and a compositional approach that departs from the most linear club formats. This method continued on Flatland (2014) and Cocoon Crush (2018), two albums released by PAN that broadened Objekt’s vocabulary toward a more narrative, textured and sometimes contemplative electronic music, without severing ties to the dancefloor’s tension. In DJ sets, Objekt moves smoothly from techno to electro, to breaks, jungle and more experimental selections, working with contrasts of tempo, density and atmosphere. Between London stages and Berlin clubs, Objekt belongs to a generation of producers for whom club music can remain physical while leaving ample room for listening and sonic construction.
