A Made Up Sound / 2562

Under the names 2562 and A Made Up Sound, Dave Huismans, born in 1979 in The Hague, Netherlands, has developed since the 2000s a career tied to club electronic music. After early releases under the aliases Dogdaze and A Made Up Sound, he steered 2562 toward a crossroads of dubstep and techno, with a dry, deep soundwriting that places strong emphasis on rhythmic dynamics. This approach took shape on the Tectonic label with the albums Aerial (2008) and Unbalance (2009), and continued on his own label When In Doubt with Fever (2011), Air Jordan (2012) and The new today (2014). The A Made Up Sound moniker accompanies a different strand of his work, older and more open in format, as evidenced by the album Shortcuts, produced in 2004 and released in 2008. Between 2562 and A Made Up Sound, Dave Huismans thus circulated among dubstep, techno and bass-music scenes while maintaining a pared-down, direct aesthetic designed for the club.
