Juha Tapio

Born in Vaasa, Finland, in 1974, Juha Tapio has built since the late 1990s a repertoire positioned between Finnish iskelmä (schlager), pop, rock, country pop and folk, with occasional gospel inflections, a direct melodic style and song forms focused on voice and guitar. After Tuulen valtakunta (1999) and Tästä kaikesta (2001), he released Mitä silmät ei nää in 2003, then followed with Ohikiitävää (2005), Kaunis ihminen (2006) and Suurenmoinen elämä (2008), albums that firmly established his place on the Finnish scene. The next phase of his career, from Hyvä voittaa (2011) through Joululauluja (2012), Lapislatsulia (2013), Sinun vuorosi loistaa (2015), Kuka näkee sut (2018), Pieniä taikoja (2019) to Elävien maasaa (2023), extends an aesthetic of adult pop and Finnish popular song in which arrangements remain clear and rock and folk influences are integrated seamlessly. Juha Tapio works mainly on the Finnish live and radio circuit, and occasionally collaborates with other artists, as on the track “Puoliski sun” with Viivi in 2026.
