Jenni Vartiainen
Born in Kuopio in 1983, Jenni Vartiainen emerged on the Finnish music scene in the early 2000s after winning the TV show Popstars, which led to the formation of Gimmel, initially a quartet and soon after a trio. Following that period she launched a solo career with Warner Music Finland and, together with producer Jukka Immonen, developed a more personal pop repertoire at the intersection of synth‑pop, dance‑pop, piano ballads and folk touches. Her debut album Ihmisten edessä was released in 2007, followed by Seili in 2010, where melodic songwriting is paired with darker atmospheres and understated electronic arrangements. Terra appeared in 2013 and continued this aesthetic with expansive pop, restrained tempos and songs centered on the voice. After a longer hiatus, she returned with Monologi in 2018 and then Origo in 2025. Having received early musical training in Kuopio, including piano studies, Jenni Vartiainen has built a career rooted in the Finnish pop scene, characterized by clear interpretation, distinct choruses and an often melancholic tone.
