Arttu Wiskari

Born in Espoo, Finland, in 1984, Arttu Wiskari initially worked within a blues register before turning to Finnish-language pop that sits between iskelmä, rock and narrative song. After stints in the bands Albron Blues Bulevardi and The Lucky Street Band, he self-released a first English-language recording in 2006 and then began a change of direction that crystallized with the single Mökkitie in 2010. The Arttu Wiskari project took shape from 2008 alongside Janne Rintala, his regular writing and stage partner, in a format that can appear as a duo or with a full band. Wiskari’s music rests on direct melodies, clear pop-rock arrangements and lyrics focused on ordinary situations, human relationships and various aspects of everyday Finnish life. His studio discography includes Arttu Wiskari (2011), Tappavan hiljainen rivarinpätkä (2013), Sirpaleet (2014), IV (2016), Suomen muotoisen pilven alla (2020) and Varpunen tuulikaapissa (2024). Over the course of his career he has also collaborated with Leavings-Orkesteri and pursued acting and dubbing work in parallel.
