Vesala
Born in Kärsämäki, in northern Finland, Paula Vesala pursues her career under the name Vesala after first establishing herself within PMMP, a pop-rock duo founded in the early 2000s with Mira Luoti. In this group, where she sings and writes a large portion of the lyrics, she develops a Finnish-language writing style attentive to everyday details, on a pop-rock base that blends the band’s energy, catchy refrains and darker nuances. After PMMP's end, Vesala begins a solo career under this single name and evolves her music toward a more contemporary pop, where electronic arrangements, synthetic textures, and a strong sense of melody coexist with an always very textual approach. Her first solo album, Vesala, appeared in 2016, followed by Etsimässä rauhaa in 2020 and Näkemiin, melankolia in 2023. In parallel, Vesala has multiplied collaborations in Finland, notably with Pekka Kuusisto on Kiestinki in 2011, as well as with Kerkko Koskinen Kollektiivi, while writing and composing for other artists, theatre, cinema and television. This trajectory links the pop stage, stage creation, and authorship, with regular presence at major Finnish festivals and venues.
