Steve Bug

Born in Wiesbaden in 1968, Steve Bug, whose real name is Stefan Brügesch, emerged in the early 1990s on the German electronic scene with an approach to house and techno built on stripped-down grooves, supple bass lines and a measured use of dub textures. A DJ, producer and label founder, Steve Bug contributed to the rise of European tech house while maintaining ties to deep, minimal, club-focused house. His albums Volksworld (1997), The Other Day (2000), Sensual (2002), Bugnology (2006) and Collaboratory (2015) trace a path first marked by concise songwriting and later by formats more open to vocals and collective work. As the founder of Poker Flat Recordings and Dessous, Steve Bug developed a dense discography alongside his work as an artistic director and DJ, across international house and techno circuits from clubs to festivals. His sets extend this sober, precise aesthetic, centered on rhythmic continuity rather than on effect.
