Kungs
Born in Toulon in 1996, Valentin Brunel, aka Kungs, has established himself on the French electronic scene with a sound that sits between melodic house, electronic pop, and soul and funk influences. Spotted in the mid-2010s thanks to remixes shared online, Kungs gained broad exposure with his rework of “This Girl” by the Australian trio Cookin’ on 3 Burners, which put him on club and festival stages across Europe and then worldwide. His debut album, “Layers,” released in 2016, defined Kungs’s aesthetic around accessible house rhythms, warm basslines, and pop vocals, notably through collaborations with Jamie N Commons and the group Ephemerals. With “Club Azur,” released in 2022, Kungs further emphasizes the celebratory side of his music, drawing more heavily on disco and funk while remaining rooted in a dance format tailored for clubs and radio. Between solo productions, vocal features, and remixes, Kungs has developed a repertoire built on immediate melodies, sung choruses, and dancefloor-focused energy, which regularly lands him on the lineups of major electronic events and in large-capacity venues.
