Purple Disco Machine
Under the name Purple Disco Machine, German producer and DJ Tino Piontek has been developing an approach to house and nu-disco since the early 2010s that draws on funk and disco from the 1970s and 1980s. Based in Dresden, Purple Disco Machine first made a mark on the European club scene with the single “My House,” then followed with releases and remixes for various pop and electronic artists. The debut album “Soulmatic,” released in 2017, encapsulates this aesthetic—funky basslines, house grooves, Italo-disco influences and soulful vocals—while “Exotica” (2021) pushed Purple Disco Machine further toward song-focused dance-pop, propelled by several vocal collaborations, notably with Sophie and the Giants. His productions sit comfortably in both club circuits and major festival lineups, centered on simple melodic lines, sung choruses and a pronounced use of retro timbres filtered through contemporary electronic songwriting.
