John Digweed
Born in Hastings, East Sussex, England, John Digweed emerged on the British scene in the early 1990s with sets centered on progressive house, melodic house and mid‑tempo techno, built on long transitions and a gradual tension build. His profile became international after meeting Sasha: the two DJs became residents at the club Renaissance and co‑authored the compilations Renaissance: The Mix Collection (1994) and Northern Exposure (1996), releases often linked to the rise of progressive house in the UK and beyond. In parallel, Digweed developed production work with Nick Muir as the duo Bedrock and around the Bedrock Records label, which long supported his activity as DJ and producer. He went on to amass a substantial discography of mixes, notably in the Global Underground series and with Fabric 20 (2005), while hosting Transitions, a format that began as a radio show and later became a podcast devoted to electronic music. Present in clubs, residencies and festivals, John Digweed maintains a mixing approach based on continuity, rhythmic precision and deep textures, at the intersection of progressive house, techno and atmospheric electronic music.
