Josh Wink

A producer and DJ based in Philadelphia, USA, Josh Wink has developed since the early 1990s a personal approach to techno and house marked by acid, breakbeat rhythms and long, progressive constructions. Formed in Philadelphia’s club scene, he attracted attention with maxi singles released under his own name or his aliases Winx and Size 9, among them “Higher State of Consciousness” (1995) and “Don't Laugh,” which circulated widely in international techno and rave circles. In 1994 he co-founded the label Ovum Recordings with King Britt, which became the main framework for his productions and some of his collaborations. Josh Wink’s music is characterized by repetitive acid lines, a taste for electro textures and subtle variations over extended durations, both in the studio and in his DJ sets. In album format his discography notably includes Herehear (1998), followed by compilations, mixes and series of maxi singles that have firmly established him in the European and North American techno and house scenes, where he continues to tour regularly.
