Hernan Cattaneo
Born in Buenos Aires in 1965, Hernán Cattáneo trained in the late 1980s amid Chicago house, Detroit techno and European synthpop before becoming a key figure of the Argentine electronic scene in the 1990s. He established himself as a resident at Clubland in Buenos Aires, where he crossed paths with Paul Oakenfold and Danny Tenaglia, and then began a steady circuit of performances at clubs and festivals across Europe and the Americas. His style sits between progressive house, deep house and melodic techno, featuring long, narrative sets focused on progression rather than immediate impact. After joining the Perfecto label he released "Deep Funk" (2001), "Satellites" (2002) and "Hubbub" (2003), while also developing remix work and mixed compilations. The compilation South America appeared in 2002, followed by several volumes for Renaissance including The Master Series in 2004 and 2005, and Sequential in 2006 and Sequential Vol. 2 in 2007. In the late 2000s he launched Sudbeat, a label that supports both emerging producers and established artists. He continued this curatorial role with Balance 026 in 2014 and Balance Presents Sunsetstrip in 2019, while maintaining an international DJ career and regular collaborations, notably with Martin Garcia, John Tonks and Soundexile.
