Gloryhammer

Formed in 2010 in Dundee, Scotland, Gloryhammer is a Scottish‑Swiss symphonic power metal band conceived by Christopher Bowes, who is also active in Alestorm. The project is built around a coherent conceptual universe in which each member of Gloryhammer embodies a fantasy or science‑fiction character, extending on stage the narratives developed in the lyrics, with an aesthetic drawing on both medieval fantasy and space opera. The first album, Tales from the Kingdom of Fife (2013), released by Napalm Records, established this fictional chronicle set in a romanticized version of Scotland, before Space 1992: Rise of the Chaos Wizards (2015) shifted the storyline to a futuristic setting. Gloryhammer then expanded the saga with Legends from Beyond the Galactic Terrorvortex (2019), followed by Return to the Kingdom of Fife (2023), marked by a return to the medieval setting and the arrival of Michele Guaitoli on vocals after the successive departures of Thomas Winkler and Sozos Michael. Musically, Gloryhammer relies on fast tempos, prominent choirs and straightforward melodies, combining the codes of European power metal with symphonic arrangements, and developing this approach on European and international metal stages through tours and festivals.
