Visions of Atlantis
Formed around the turn of the 2000s in Graz, Austria, Visions of Atlantis crafts highly melodic symphonic metal with power‑metal overtones and an aesthetic originally inspired by the myth of Atlantis. Anchored by drummer and cofounder Thomas Caser, the band adopted a male‑and‑female vocal formula from the start, which remains central to Visions of Atlantis’ identity and is today carried by Clémentine Delauney and Michele Guaitoli. After their debut album Eternal Endless Infinity (2002), followed by Cast Away and Trinity that established them on the European metal scene, the lineup went through several changes while the group refined a style blending orchestrations, catchy choruses and maritime atmospheres. With Delta (2011) and Ethera (2013) they moved toward a more modern sound, before returning to a more epic, narrative vein on The Deep & the Dark (2018) and Wanderers (2019). The era opened by Pirates (2022) accentuates a turn toward pirate‑and‑sea‑adventure imagery, which Visions of Atlantis explores both in the studio and on stage during tours and symphonic‑metal festivals.
