Bloodbound
Formed in 2004 in Bollnäs, Sweden, Bloodbound established itself within the European melodic heavy and power metal scene, favoring fantastical themes and heroic imagery. Founded around guitarist Tomas Olsson and keyboardist Fredrik Bergh, the band blends powerful vocals, twin guitar work and catchy choruses, combining classic heavy influences with more epic arrangements. They drew notice with the album “Nosferatu” (2005), followed by “Book of the Dead” (2007) and the more modern-leaning “Tabula Rasa” (2009). Changes in vocalists — from Urban Breed through subsequent singers to the arrival of Patrik J. Selleby in the early 2010s — accompanied a shift toward a more direct, chorus-driven power metal. With “Stormborn” (2014), “War of Dragons” (2017) and “Tales from the North” (2023), Bloodbound consolidated an identity focused on battle narratives, dragons and Nordic legends, while retaining straightforward, stage-oriented songwriting. The band tours regularly across Europe, often alongside other power metal acts, and its dense discography has established Bloodbound as a fixture in the genre.
