Ela Minus

Born in Bogotá as Gabriela Jimeno Caldas, Ela Minus first emerged on the Colombian indie scene as the drummer of hardcore band Ratón Perez before going to study in Boston and later settling in New York. This trajectory leaves a lasting mark on her music, which blends punk energy, tight pop songwriting and club electronics with techno and dance-pop edges, driven by a voice that is often intimate, in both English and Spanish. After a first solo track in 2015, Ela Minus developed her project through the EPs First Words (2015), Grow (2016) and Adapt (2017), asserting a personal approach to production and electronic live performance. Her debut album, Acts of Rebellion (2020), broadened this aesthetic with tense, melodic and minimalist tracks that balance danceable pulse and emotional restraint. Her career has since taken her to international stages and festivals such as Coachella and Primavera Sound, and included a collaboration with DJ Python on Kiss U in 2022. In 2025, Ela Minus released Día, her second album, which continues this work of introspection, crisp rhythms and synthetic textures.
