Faux Real

Formed by brothers Elliott and Virgile Arndt, Faux Real develops a project conceived equally as music, performance and stage play, in a constant dialogue between French and English. The duo emerged around 2020 with a string of notable opening shows for Metronomy, followed by videos that extend their visual and choreographic universe. Faux Real operates where art-pop, experimental rock and indie pop intersect, with short, edgy, often offbeat songs driven by absurd Franglais lyrics and an unapologetic theatricality. Their aesthetic blends sensuality, humor, tension and a taste for détournement, without separating sound from gesture or song from staging. On stage, Faux Real first built itself in a variety of contexts — from clubs and house parties to more improvised performances on the street or at illegal raves — which highlights the physical and unstable dimension of their music. Behind this apparent nonchalance, Faux Real crafts an angular pop, sometimes close to underground rock, sometimes more synthetic, always conceived as a field of friction between a fraternal duo, stage fiction and contemporary pop culture.
